The Jigawa State Government has recruited 450 newly recruited health workers.
The Executive Secretary of Jigawa State Primary Healthcare Development Agency (JSPHCDA), Dr Kabir Ibrahim confirmed on Saturday that those recruited included senior and junior community health extension workers, medical lab technicians and their assistants and environmental health workers.
Others were dental assistants, x-ray technicians as well as food and nutrition technicians.
Dr Ibrahim said that “the new health workers would undergo two-week orientation course to acquaint them with the necessary skills to handle primary healthcare issues at the grassroots.’’
The executive secretary challenged health workers to adhere strictly to the civil service rules in the conduct of their duties.
He stated that “government recruited the workers to ensure efficient healthcare delivery in the state.’’
Dr Ibrahim added that the appointment would a long way in enhancing access to quality healthcare delivery, particularly in rural communities.
Fifteen graduates were employed from each of the 30 constituencies in the state.
