Kwara State Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed, has appointed transition committee members for the local government councils of the state
Ahmed approved the extension of the tenure and the appointment of the new committee members for the 16 local councils in the state on Thursday.
A statement by the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Isiaka Gold, stated that the new appointments and extension follow the expiration of the tenure of the previous TIC members.
He added that Ahmed made the appointments and extension in exercise of the powers conferred on him by the Kwara State Local Government Law 2008.
According to Gold, the new TIC chairpersons include Alhaji Yunus Oniboki (Asa), Alhaji Mohammed Danjuma (Baruten), Mr Yakubu Shaaba, (Edu), Chief Samuel Adaramola (Ekiti), Mr Abdulwahab Ololele, (Ilorin-West), Mr Ishola Abdullahi, (Ilorin-East), Alhaja Funmi Salau (Ilorin-South), and Alhaji Omoniyi M. Ayinla (Ifelodun).
Others are Mr Abiodun Ajiboye (Irepodun), Mr Oyelere Oyinloye (Isin), Umar Gunu (Kaiama), Mr Olaiya Zuberu (Moro), Mr Akeem Olatunji (Offa), Mr Abegunde Goke, (Oke-Ero), Mr Olushola Gabriel (Oyun), and Mr Mohammed Barki (Patigi).
He added that the details of other members of the newly constituted TICs would be made available later. Gold had yet to do so as of the time of filing the report.
But various state chapters of the Peoples Democratic Party and the All Progressive Congress expressed divergent views on the composition of the transition committees inaugurated by the state governor.
