Super Falcons has qualified for the semi-final of the Africa Women’s Championship (AWC) with a match to spare after mauling debutant Zambia 6-0 at the Sam Nujoma Stadium on Tuesday.
Edwin Okon started the crop of players that defeated Cote d’ Ivoire 4-2 in its opening match and showed great dominance from the beginning of the game to the end.
The team opened scoring in the fifth minute through Ngozi Okobi’s header after receiving a well tailored cross from Desire Oparanozie to beat the helpless Zambian goalkeeper Ibubeleye Whyte.
Five additional goals from Ohale Osinachi, Asisat Oshoala, Perpetua Nkwocha and Oparanozie’s double ensured the team booked its place in the semi final of the championship and will be aiming to clinch the trophy on October 25.
The Shipolopolo was reduced to ten women after Grace Zulu was shown a red card for a second yellow card before the halftime break.
Nigeria ‘s final group match will be against the hosts nation, Namibia on Friday at the Sam Nujoma Stadium.
