South Africa U-17 team on Wednesday ended Golden Eaglets sojourn in the ongoing Africa U-17 Championship, beating the Nigerians 1-0 in the first semi-final.

A Khanyisa Eric Mayo’s goal in the 25th minute gave the South Africans their first final berth at the junior level. The resumption of the second half didn’t really make any difference as the Amajimbos defended relentlessly despite Nigeria‘s surge of continuous attack which didn’t make any dividend.

The defeat does not take anything away from Nigeria as the team has already booked a place for this year’s FIFA U-17 World Cup in Chile .

This will be another sweet victory for South Africa after its senior national team prevented the Super Eagles from qualifying for the 2015 Nations Cup in Equatorial Guinea .

Golden Eaglets will have to wait for the loser between Mali and Guinea for the third place match which will be played on Sunday at the Stade Général Seyni Kountché.
