The National Pension Commission (PENCOM) has said that the nationwide verification and enrolment of prospective retirees of treasury funded Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) of the Federal Government will end on June 18.
The exercise, which began on May 12, is for workers due for retirement from January to December, 2015, after attaining the age of 60 or 35 years of service, the commission stated in its newsletter.
The publication, issued in Abuja on Wednesday, stated that the exercise covered employees of tertiary institutions who would have attained 65 years or 70 years.
“Affected employees are those that are due for retirement from January to December 2015 and are expected to come along with letter from the Ministry, Department and Agency.
“This letter will signify retirement and first appointment dates, grade level and step as at 30th June 2004, grade level and step as at July, 2007, as well as the current grade level and step, and authenticated past records of service,’’ it said.
It said affected workers who had yet to be verified according to the timetable were expected to feature at their various centres with the original and photocopies of their letters of appointment, transfer and acceptance.
Other documents for the exercise are birth certificate or age declaration, current pay slip indicating grade level and step, among others.
It, however, said that medically unfit employees were exempt from the physical enrolment.
It further said that Pension Desk Officers of the medically unfit employees were expected to come along with a letter from a suitably qualified physician or medical board certifying that the employee was no longer physically or mentally capable of carrying out the functions of his office.
