The Super Eagles of Nigeria played a goalless draw against Taifa Stars of Tanzania in their Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier decided at the National Stadium, Dar es Salaam on Saturday.
The hosts were the better side and should have ran away with at least four goals as the Eagles were on holiday throughout.
The Super Eagles could barely put five passes together, lacking purpose and determination when going forward.
Haruna Lukman had his worst game for Super Eagles exposing the Nigerian side in the midfield and was rightly substituted in the 35th minute by Coach Sunday Oliseh.
With their supporters cheering them on, the Taifa Stars nearly got the breakthrough when Himid Mao got behind the Eagles defence but headed straight at the keeper.
In the 64th minute, a swift move by the hosts saw the ball finding forward, Mrisho Ngasa but he mysteriously nodded over the bar.
Just a minute later, the Taifa Stars were on rampage again. After an exchange of passes, Thomas Ulimwengu was put on goal but the Nigerian goalkeeper, Carl Ikeme made himself big enough to keep the shot out.
The Taifa Stars had other chances but showed their lack of experience in front of goal to give the Super Eagles an undeserved share of the spoils.
The Super Eagles are now topping the Group G table with four points in two games though with a game more than Egypt who sits in second position.
