It’s rather unfortunate that the institutions that were built to protect the state have turn around to be used by an individual against the state itself. The police will never be contrite and have taken sides in a situation where they were expected to be neutral. One would want to ask the police commissioner if the speaker was a hoodlum who duly introduced himself as the speaker. Why were the speaker and or other minority leaders not allowed to go through the gate? Why was Emeka Ihedioha, the deputy speaker given a free passage and other members from the opposition denied?
It is this kind of impunity that resulted in the current Boko Haram insurgency. While we are frantically battling the war, Mr. President and his imprudent executive are creating more battle fronts.
