President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has asked the Senate to confirm Prof. Joash Amupitan (SAN) as the chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Tinubu’s request was contained in a letter read during Tuesday’s plenary by Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
The President had last week appointed Amupitan as new INEC chairman following the expiration of the tenure of Prof Mahmood Yakubu.
The appointment was endorsed by the National Council of State on Thursday.
