The Nigerian Airspace Management Authority (NAMA) has announced the reopening of the Kaduna airport to normal flight activities.
The agency had on Sunday announced a closure of the Kaduna airport due to a fire incident that destroyed major facilities in the airport’s air control tower.
Consequently, all flights in and out of the airport were temporarily suspended.
A statement by NAMA on Tuesday noted that this followed the successful deployment of air traffic facilities at the airport early on Monday.
The statement noted that the engineering workers of the agency had worked round the clock to ensure that normal flights resumed at the airport with the effective deployment of the Air Traffic Control Mobile Tower.
It said, “Earlier today (Tuesday), Aero Contractor was able to operate in and out of the airport without any hitch and several other flights have followed the Aero Contractor operations.
“NAMA had issued a Notice to Airmen to that effect.”
The statement signed by the General Manager, Public Affairs, NAMA, Mr. Supo Atobatele, had said, “Flights to Kaduna airport have been temporarily suspended following a fire incident which razed the tower that completely destroyed air traffic control facilities.
Reacting to this, the Managing Director, NAMA, Mr. Ibrahim Abdulsalam, commended the loyalty and commitment of the engineering and operations teams in ensuring that normal flight operations returned in less than 24 hours.
He assured the people of the continuous efforts of the agency to ensure that facilities would be in a proper working order for seamless flight activities.
