The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) on Thursday said it had sold N70.64bn in Treasury bills of three-month and six-month maturities at an auction on Wednesday.
The CBN said the treasury bills were sold at similar yields it fetched at a previous auction this month.
Reuters reported that the central bank sold N40.64bn in the three-month paper at 9.9 per cent, compared with 10 per cent at the previous auction on August 6, while it sold N30bn in the six-month debt note at 10.2 per cent, same yield at as the previous auction.
Subscription stood at N122.32bn compared with N88.13bn demanded at the previous auction.
Bond yields had climbed at last week’s auction on the back of lower demand among investors.
The CBN had sold N100bn worth of bonds with maturities ranging between three and 20 years at the auction held last Wednesday. – Punch.
