Niger State government on Sunday said it had unearth yet another grand plan by the All Progressives Congress to blackmail the state governor, Babangida Aliyu, with allegation that he sold 20 per cent of state government shares in the Shiroro hydro power station.
A statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Israel Ebije, said the public should be wary of misinformation by the APC.
“The opposition has realised earlier that allegation claiming that Niger State government secured a N5bn loan to rig election was dismissed by reasonable electorates. No bank will give that amount of money for any purpose few weeks to election. Besides, Niger State Peoples Democratic Party does not need to spend money on the electorates who are set to vote the party.
“We have therefore uncovered another plot by the APC to accuse government of selling shares of Niger State in the Shiroro Dam. It is indeed instructive to intimate that no investor will purchase such stake when they know it belongs to over four million Nigerlites.
“It is indeed very shocking, very unfortunate and very sadistic of the opposition to diminish itself in the estimation of right thinking Nigerlites because it wants to score cheap political points. Their earlier N5bn loan blackmail has failed and now plot to sell another lie? “Nigerlites should beware of the opposition; they are deceitful, self-serving and have no vision for the state.
“This administration has the worst financial recklessness when compared with previous administrations in the state.
“They have no regards for financial management and that is why the poor masses are suffering because the money is in few hands making development impossible. But time shall come when they will account for it,” he said.
