As part of the commitment and contribution in moving the university to greater heights, in terms of infrastructural development as well as intervention in other issues peculiar to their alma mater, the University of Nigeria Alumni Association (UNAA) has donated N24m to the university. This was revealed by the President of the Association, Barrister Andrew Oru during the 88th National Executive meeting of the Association held at UBA Hall of Fame, University of Nigeria, Nsukka.
According to him, “In consonance with our covenant, we are here again, not just in spirit, but also in flesh and blood to fellowship and renew our vows to keep our revered Alma mater in good stead in our unending desire to restore the dignity of man.”
He also stated that the donation made is a new dawn in the relationship between the University Management under the new leadership and the Alumni Association, adding that, it portends positive strides in the infrastructural and other needy aspects of the University Community.
In his address, the Vice chancellor of the University, Prof. Benjamin Ozumba who was represented by the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic), Prof. P. E. Chigbu thanked the Alumni for their support, stating that, the alumni of any university all over the world are very important stakeholders in the institution’s enterprise. In his words, “Through constructive ideas and generation of funds, they contribute immensely in infrastructural development and ensuring the prevalence of a peaceful and conducive atmosphere for their functioning of the University.
