The Governor of Enugu State, Chief Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, has assured the people of the state that his administration will complete all
developmental projects initiated by his predecessor to make life better for the citizenry.
Governor Ugwuanyi gave the assurance in a speech when leaders of thought, traditional rulers, top government officials and PDP
stakeholders led sons and daughters of Enugu East Senatorial District on a thank-you visit to the former Governor of the state, Mr. Sullivan
Chime at his country home, Udi town.
The Governor described Enugu State as one big family and restated the seamless continuity in the execution of the four-point agenda of his
predecessor to ensure equitable distribution of amenities to give every section of the state a sense of belonging.
The State Chief Executive described Chime as the leader of the state whether in office or not and specifically thanked him for laying a solid foundation for him to build-upon.
He commended the former Governor for what he was able to achieve within eight years in office and thanked the people of
Enugu East Senatorial District for demonstratoing love and appreciation through the visit.
In his speech, the immediate past Governor of the state, Mr. Chime thanked the people for their visit and kind words over his modest
achievements in the state during his eight years of administration.
He noted that the much he was able to achieve in the state was made possible by the level of cooperation and prayers from the people of
the state and appealed to the people to give the same support to his successor to enable him succeed.
Governor Chime said it was a thing of joy for one’s effort to be recognized and appreciated, especially when one was no longer in office
and pledged to continue to identify and support his successor.
The former governor noted with delight that his successor has demonstrated his commitment and determination to work as he had
already started with inspection and visits to government establishments and institutions to see things for himself.
The people of the district arrived Udi town with various traditional dancing groups to demonstrate their appreciation of what Governor Chime did for them.
Representatives from the six local government areas in the district in their various goodwill messages thanked the former Governor for his
landmark achievements in all sectors of the economy, especially in the areas of physical infrastructure, health, education, security and
agriculture, among others.
They described Governor Chime as a selfless
leader who sacrificed a lot for peace and unity in the state.
The traditional ruler of Umuawala-Agu Nara Unataeze Community, Nkanu
East local government council, Igwe Abel Nwobodo, who spoke on behalf
of the Royal Fathers from the area described Governor Chime as a transformer, whose administration touched positively on the lives of
the people of the state.
Igwe Nwobodo specifically thanked him for uplifting the status of traditional rulers in the state through enhanced salaries and gifts of
official cars.
Also the Chairman of ALGON in the state, Prince Cornelius Nnaji in his speech said that their visit was to appreciate the Governor and thank him for his good works and achievements which called for celebration.
Prince Nnaji who is also the Chairman of Enugu East local government council noted that greater chunk of major developmental projects
executed by Governor Chime were located in Enugu East Senatorial District, adding that the people would forever remain grateful to the
Governor.
He pledged that the people would also support the State Governor, Chief Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, to ensure the success of his administration.
The State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Ikeje Asogwa, in his speech said that the history of Enugu State would not be complete without the Governor and his good governance and thanked the people of Enugu East Senatorial District for this show of love and appreciation of the Governor’s good works.
Other speakers including Mr. Eddy Ubosi of Enugu East local government, Monday Ede of Enugu South, Chijioke Ugwueze of Isi-Uzo,
Steve Oruruo of Nkanu West, Paul Nnajiofor of Nkanu East and Ikechukwu Agbo of Enugu North all recounted the achievements of the former governor Chime and thanked him for his leadership qualities, good governance.
