Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State has reaffirmed the premium his administration places on education of the children of the state for the socio-economic advancement and other benefits associated with academic growth and development.
The Governor stated this while receiving the Thailand Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. Chailert Limsomboon who was at the Government House Enugu to intimate the Governor of his visit to the state to inspect a project on school feeding programme in two schools located at Eke in Udi Local Government Area.
The programme is being organised by a Non -Governmental Organisation known as PACIEH which the Kingdom of Thailand is interseted in supporting.
Gov. Ugwuanyi while thanking the Ambassador for the willingness of the Kingdom of Thailand to partner with the NGO and the State Government on the area school feeding programme as it affects nutrition, academic and health, noted that education has remain one of the cardinal objectives his administration is pursuing vigorously in line with its four point agenda.
He told the Thailand Ambassador that his visit to the state speaks volume of his country’s care and love for the children and appealed to them to extend the programme to some other schools in the state as the government is willing to continue to support and cooperate with them.
Eairler in his address, the Thailand Ambassador, Mr. Limsomboon informed the Governor that he was impressed with the progress reports in the two schools he visited in respect of nutrition, academic and health, and thanked him for the support he has received so far from the state government which he said was “essential and critical”.
