Makurdi seems to be a quiet town to many but the serene town almost exploded last weekend when celebrated musicians stormed the city for this year’s edition of Star Music Trek 2016.

The likes of serial award winner, Tuface Idibia, Wande Coal, Cynthia Morgan and Burna Boy set the stage on fire as fans and friends had massive fun all through the concert.

Hosted by comedian, Gbenga Adeyinka who was also energetic all through the night, the show also showcased up and coming acts who dazzled the audience with their performances.

And when it was time to separate the boys from the men, Wande Coal came on the stage and practically wowed the audience with his hit tracks including‘Bumper to Bumper,’ ‘Se na like this,’‘Super woman,’ ‘Booty call,’ ‘My woman – My everything.’

Aboki exponent, Ice Prince, also showed he is still a force to reckon with as he also gave incredible performance of his other super tracks like Oleku, Excellency and That could be us.

The concert also saw an amazing dance routine from Cynthia Morgan, who performed her new single Bubble bup and scintillated the cheering crowd with songs like ‘I’m Taken’, ‘Lead Me On’, ‘Popori’ and the crowd-pleasing-song ‘German Juice’, which left the audience yearning for more.

Burnaboy had his A-game on, as he connected with the crowd throughout his 40 minutes set on stage. He serenaded the crowd to amazing songs like ‘Don Gorgon,’ ‘Yawa Dey,’ ‘Won da mo,’ ‘Oluwa Burna’and a couple of other songs from his stable.

But when Tubaba came on stage, the tempo practically went a notch higher. The talented musician kept everybody on their feet as people kept rocking till the wee hours of the morning.

TuBaba closed the concert with a one-hour live performance through which he dished out some philosophies about life.

The Deejays weren’t left out. DJ ‘BIG N’ and DJ Neptune brought incredible life to the city of Makurdi, turning up the mix and gracefully giving up and coming acts a shot at fame during their moments on stage.

Meanwhile, “A trip to Jamaica”, a movie by award-winning Nigerian stand-up comedian, Ayo Makun, popularly known as AY will be premiered worldwide on September 25 in Lagos. AY, who is the principal character in the movie and its Executive Producer, disclosed this in a statement made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja According to him, the star-studded movie is a hilarious instalment of the Akpos series shot in Lagos, Atlanta and Montego Bay in Jamaica. “After the success of ‘30 Days In Atlanta’, there were a lot of calls for more.

So we decided to do a spinoff to showcase further adventures of Akpos”. “A Trip to Jamaica’ bridges the gap between Nollywood, Gollywood, Hollywood and the Jamaican movie industry.” He added that artistes cast in the movie were drawn from Nigeria, Ghana, America and Jamaica.

The cast include award-winning actress, Funke Akindele, Hollywood veteran, Eric Roberts and Paul Campbell from Jamaica. Others include: Nigerian Nse Ikpe-Etim, Ghanaian ‘lover boy’ Chris Attoh, Dan Davies from Hollywood and Rebecca Silvera who was the former Miss Jamaica. “A Trip to Jamaica’ was created to celebrate the best of our cultures.

Using a football match which will showcase great players who have all worn their countries’ national colours at international competitions is a fitting way to herald the release of the movie. The football game will be witnessing live comedy and musical performances as a way of celebrating the cultures of these unique countries,”AY said.

According to him, ex-footballers to play in the match include: Kanu Nwankwo, Jay Jay Okocha, Peter Rufai, Joseph Yobo, Mutiu Adepoju, Victor Ikpeba, and Ghanaian’s Stephen Appiah. Artistes from different countries are expected to grace the premiere.

He added that the movie would be available on cinemas across Nigeria on September 30. It was co-written by AY and Dianne Diaz and directed by Robert Peters, the US based multiple award winning film maker who also directed ‘30 Days in Atlanta’. – Punch, agency report.
