The Deputy Senate President, Chief Ike Ekweremadu, yesterday in Enugu declared that the rift between him and Enugu State Governor, Sullivan Chime is over.
Ekweremadu spoke while addressing thousands of his constituents and supporters including widows, members of Transformation Ambassadors of Nigeria (TAN), Jonathan Support Group (JSG), and Project Monitoring Group (PMC) in his constituency, Enugu West Senatorial District; that he had reconciled with Chime to move the constituency and the state forward.
He announced that there was no more division and discrimination between ‘Ekweremadu and Ikeoha Group’, and ‘Sullivan Group’, saying everybody belonged to ‘Ikeoha Group’ because he was the senator representing the zone, including Governor Chime.
Ekweremadu stated that he and his wife, Dr. Nwanneka called the people together to use the opportunity to celebrate and wish them Happy Christmas and a prosperous New Year and thank them for their prayers and support throughout the year.
“We are thanking our governor, there was a time I had a misunderstanding with him; but I am announcing to everybody that we have reconciled, we are now working harmoniously. Everything is going well in the state. So, when you get to your wards, there is no more anything like Ekweremadu group and Sullivan group; we are all the same. Everybody now belongs to Ikeoha group, including Sullivan because I am the senator representing everybody, including the governor.
“We don’t want to see any division, let us work together, so that things will be moving well in our zone. I am telling you that the politics of 2015, Enugu West will play a major role.
“So, I will like to announce that peace has returned to Enugu state and that the peace should be sustained and everybody should be part and parcel of the joy that comes with the peace,” he said.
Earlier, Mrs. Ekweremadu had distributed Christmas gifts including bags of rice, a wrapper and cash of N10, 000 each to over 500 widows from Enugu West Senatorial District.
