A House of Representatives aspirant for Nsukka/Igbo-Eze South Federal Constituency, Mr. Luke Azubuike Okonkwo has commended the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the state for zoning the 2015 governorship position to Enugu North Senatorial zone, (Nsukka).
Speaking to journalists on Wednesday in Enugu, Okonkwo said Governor Sullivan Chime of the state had demonstrated unprecedented ability to lead the party without rancour.
He said rather than impose his personal interests on the people, “Chime has at various occasions maintained that no candidate will be imposed on the people; his stand has always been that the will of the people should be allowed to prevail.
“I must also commend the party for laying a solid foundation for equity and justice in this state by zoning the governorship position to Nsukka”.
While declaring his intention to run for the House of Reps position under the platform of the PDP, Okonkwo, an estate developer and property manager said it was informed by calls from his people to come and serve them.
“It is believed that my enviable antecedents and my contributions to the growth of my constituency necessitated their calls for me to serve them at this position, and I will do that”, he stated.
He further promised that he would give his people quality representation, stressing that “as somebody who stays with my people, I know what they need”.
Meanwhile, youths from Nsukka/Igbo-Eze South Federal Constituency have vowed to give Okonkwo their support.
According to the youths, “Okonkwo is one of us, he has helped us so much, this is payback time”.
