A presidential aspirant for 2023 general elections on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and Governor of Sokoto State, Alhaji Waziri Amoni Tambuwal lamented the death of late Deborah Emmanuel, a 200 level student of Shehu Shagari College of Education Sokoto in the hands of Moslem fundamentalists over alleged blasphemy, assuring Nigerians that the ugly incident would never happen again.
He said the incident was highly regrettable and that the case is before the court, saying that it was a consequence of the worrisome state of insecurity threatening the nation.
Speaking when he met with delegates from Anambra State in Awka the state capital ahead of the Party’s National Convention to elect the Presidential, Tambuwal carpeted the All Progressives Congress (APC) led government of President Muhammadu Buhari for the extreme marginalization of Ndigbo in the appointment of key positions both in the federal executive council (FEC) and Service Chiefs which he said does not reflect the principles of justice, fair play and equity.
He pledged to run an all-inclusive government that would focus on the future of Nigerian children and the country at large through positive empowerment schemes and training, sound education, an improved healthcare delivery system, effective security of lives and property, agriculture, and stable power generation and general well-being of the citizenry.
He pointed out that his government would recognize true partnership and a reflection of Pan Nigerian as was demonstrated during the hay days of the civilian administration of the trio of former President Shehu Shagari with Dr Alex Ekwueme as Vice President and that of late Senate President, Dr Chuba Okadigbo.
According to him, the relationship between Anambra State and Sokoto State is that both are brothers brother brothers and it’s a reflection of what happened during the second republic when Shehu Shagari was President, Alex Ekwueme was Vice President and China Okadigbo was the Senate President.
He told the delegates to cast their votes for him to emerge as the candidate of the PDP because he has the experience, capacity, humility, calm spirit, learned as a lawyer and young to turn the fortunes of the country around for a greater future.
He further promised to unleash the development of the elected President of the nation in the forms of a network of roads, key infrastructure and a seaport on Anambra state so that it can be the Silicon of Southeast geopolitical.
He added that the issue of agitation and imbalance in the scheme of things would be given the desired attention when he becomes the President through restructuring, devolution of power and true federalism.
“You must get the President who understands the issues. I appeal to your conscience, I remember the future of your children and the nation. Vote for the candidate who can do the job including a Pan Nigerian.”
The Presidential hopeful said, “I reassure you that when you give me the flag of our party, we will work together. What’s important is for the PDP to win the elections; we know what to do to reward hard work. Those who work hard will get their compensation. I will empower the youths not the way they (APC) do through 419 but we will give you training and you will go and establish yourself. I believe in partnership.”
In his remarks, the Director General of the Tambuwal Presidential Campaign, and former Minister of Power during the military era, Senator Tunde Ogbeha said some aspirants are eminently qualified to be President of Nigeria but there is an aspirant who is eminently more qualified to be President of Nigeria and that aspirant is Aminu Tambuwal.”
Nigeria is in the intensive care and we are looking for a doctor who will cure her and that doctor is Tambuwal. He can be President. He will execute the office of President of Nigeria with fear and justice,” Ogbeha stated.
