Ayade inspects 134km Mbok-Yala-Obudu Ranch dual carriageway project
…commends quality of work
Cross River State Governor, Prof. Ben Ayade has expressed satisfaction with the ongoing construction work on the 134 kilometres Mbok-Yala-Bekwarra-Obudu Ranch  dual carriageway in the Northern Senatorial Zone of the state.
Speaking during an inspection tour, Ayade offered: “The contractors are doing a great job. I like the quality of jobs done so far and as you can see, they are very committed to ensuring timely delivery on this project and I must say that I am impressed and confident that they will meet the set target.”
Ayade said “from my calculation, we are looking at asphalting from February and ultimately we are utilising the dry season up to May to reach advanced stage in the project say, asphalting from Gakem to Obudu within this period.”
On the economic importance of the road, Ayade said: “This is a dual carriage that will give the people of the northern part of the state a sense of belonging as well as give them the opportunity to experience a city infrastructure.”
While assuring on the quality of job, Ayade maintained that “the Commissioner For Works and his team are on ground to ensure that quality test and all the necessary components of the project are followed to thwithout compromise to world standard and going by this standard set, I hope this road will last almost for ever.”
Governor Ayade said since work on the road began, “the popular Okuku Market is picking up and the economic lives of our people are already picking up. So, you can imagine what will happen by the time we are done with asphalting. The benefits will be unprecedented, especially the locals who will now be seeing real value for their wares.
“This road will also reduce travelling time within the northern part of the state. Truly it’s a very good short cut to Port Harcourt, Enugu and even Benue state.’’
