A member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Funke Deborah Adedoyin, is dead.
She was aged 56.
Adedoyin died on Friday in Abuja after a protracted battle with cancer, one of her colleagues in the lower chamber of the National Assembly revealed.
The late lawmaker was a former Minister of Youth Development and later Minister of State for Health.
Adedoyin, who represented Ekiti/Isin/Irepodun/Oke-ero federal constituency of Kwara State, was one of the All Progressives Congress (APC) lawmakers that defected to the Peoples Democratic Party recently.
A sister to the late lawmaker, Mrs. Omolola Olobayo, confirmed the death of her sister in a telephone interview with our correspondent.
Olobayo, who is a former chairman of the Kwara and Kogi states chapter of the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN), said her sister died in an Abuja hospital after returning from a treatment abroad.
