The Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) has congratulated the Christian community in Nigeria on the occasion of this year’s Christmas celebration.
In a statement on Saturday by Muhammed Bello Ishaq, Media Assistant to the National Chairman, the party said that “Christmas is a lovely time of the year, a time not only to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ but also show love, affection and good neighbourliness to one another.
Thus, Nigerians should celebrate with all their heart and extend their joy to all their neighbours in spite of the fact that this year’s Christmas comes at a time Nigerians are bedevilled by high level insecurity, numerous social and economic challenges, among others.
In the light of the above menace, we strongly call on the ruling government to be serious in safeguarding the citizens’ right to life and own property. The present rate of insecurity is making Nigeria an unsafe nation for lives and businesses. Therefore, it is urgent that the incumbent government brings an end to the scourges of kidnappings, banditry, insurgency and other acts of violence in various parts of our country.
Hue and cry of Nigerians should not be treated with levity. It will be very unfair if the present government continues turning deaf hearing to what throws multitude of the Nigerian populace into quagmire of poverty and psychological trauma.
Finally, the PRP prays for the nation for better leadership and wishes all Christian brethren a happy and merry Christmas celebration”, the statement added.
