Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia has expressed the readiness of the Abia government to evolve programs and policies that will boost Abia’s economic advancement in 2022.
Ikpeazu disclosed this in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Onyebuchi Ememanka, and made available to the News Agency of Nigeria(NAN) on Saturday in Umuahia.
The governor expressed confidence that new vistas of development would be opened in the state in the new year and thanked the citizenry for their support and cooperation.
He urged the people of Abia to expect increased economic activities in the state, adding that the groundbreaking ceremony of the Enyimba Economic City Project would hold in the second quarter of 2022.
Ikpeazu said that the state government had invested heavily in mobilizing contractors to different project sites across the state, especially in Aba.
He added that the tempo of construction activities would be increased to enhance the state’s infrastructural stock and ease the movement of people, goods, and services
Ikpeazu assured the people of Abia of an improved socio-economic outlook in the state in 2022 as the new year would be better than in past years.
The governor said that effective measures had been put in place by the state government to ensure that lives and property were adequately protected.
Ikpeazu commended the state House of Assembly for passing the 2022 Appropriation Bill, which he signed into law on Dec. 31, 2021, and made the Appropriation Law effective from January 1.
He said that the development had added greater impetus to the state government’s business in 2022.
The governor reiterated the commitment of the government to fully implement the 2022 budget for the greater good of the people of Abia State.
Ikpeazu said that 2022 would witness increased political activities across the country as the race for 2023 general elections would commence effectively.
He advised the people of Abia to be on guard and avoid any action that would plunge the state into needless chaos in the name of politics.
He charged key political actors and parties to be mindful of the peace and security of the people of the state as they engaged in their political activities.
Ikpeazu thanked God for the peace and security in the state and urged residents to be law-abiding to ensure that peace would continue to reign supreme in Abia.
He prayed to God to make the new year to be filled with blessings and prosperity for the people of the state. – NAN.
