An eyewitness disclosed that there had been an age-long rift between the family of the paramount ruler and Chief Sanni family of Ogbagi Community, Ondo State.
He stated that the two families used to be cordial, but tussle for a chieftaincy title and land dispute completely turned them against each other.
Meanwhile, one Kabiru Sanni, an influential member of the community, is alleged to be responsible for the attack on the paramount leader and his family, who were loved by many in the community.
The paramount ruler, his wife and daughter reportedly died as a result of the attack.
The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Ijapo Divisional Police Headquarters, Akinloye Adefemi, who confirmed the incident, said a crack team of detectives from the Command had commenced investigation to unravel those behind the heinous act.
The DPO promised the police would get to the root of the matter.
He also stated that the police had deposited the remains of the deceased persons at an undisclosed mortuary.
