The situation in Nigeria for its gay citizens is deteriorating just as the number of same sex people amongst Nigerian youths continues to rise.

Thursday, 26th March 2015, was an unfortunate day for two alleged gay lovers, Philip Adewale and Oluseyi Dimeji, who were said to be in their early twenties.

According to eyewitnesses, the two suspects were caught naked inside a hotel room at the Mable Field Hotel, around Oshodi Area of Lagos State.

The boys were said to have been beaten to stupor, leading to one of the them falling into coma.

According to Mr. Yusuf Omoegba, an attendant, hotel patrons allegedly perceived smell of marijuana from the hotel room, which according to them, was prohibited by hotel rules.

According to the attendant, the reason for going to the room the boys lodged was to call the attention of the suspects to the fact that their money had elpased.

He said they had gone several times to their room to notify them about it but all efforts to get them to open up the door were unsuccessful.

He stated that the attendants on duty had to alert the security personels who rushed to the scene, and having banged the door several times for the boys to open up but to no avail, the security men went for the spare key which he said they later used to open the door.

According to some staff who preferred anonymity, the boys were naked and deep asleep when security personnel opened the room door.

They further stated that the room was oozing with smell of marijuana even with the chilling effect of the air-conditioner.

He added that they saw the boys alongside freshly-used tissue paper littered all over the room, which forced one of the security personel to wake up the boys to confirm if they were gay.

It was gathered that the boys began fidgeting and that the boys’ body movement prompted one of the security personnel to demand for their phones.

It was also gathered that the boys refused but when they were threatened that they would be pushed outside just the way they were, the boys reluctantly released their phones and password.

According to him, they saw compromising pictures of the boys kissing and video recording where they had sent nude videos of themselves to each other.

It was gathered that one of the security staff angrily dragged the boys out of the rooms into the waiting hands of the crowd who began to assault the boys ruthlessly calling them gays.

This attracted the attention of hoodlums at the Charity Bus stop who intervened nd demanded to know what the boys did to warrant been assaulted that much.

Meanwhile, it was gathered that the thugs on hearing why the boys were being assaulted joined in assaulting the boys.

It was stated that the hotel management had already alerted the police who came about 15 minutes later.

Unfortunately, one of the teenagers, Oluseyi Dimeji, was said to have fainted and gone into coma in the process, owing to the severe beating.

The police patrol vehicle was quickly used to rush unconscious Oluseyi Dimeji to the Ikeja General hospital, while the remaining officers on ground doused the atmosphere and restored calm to the neighborhood.

It was learnt that the Police District Commissioner (DCO) confirmed that one of the suspects, Philip Adewale was in their custody and under interrogation.

The DCO has promised to get Oluseyi Dimeji’s statement once he regained consciousness.

He further stated that the police would further investigate the activities of the suspects and ensure the law took its course.

In his final remark, the Police DCO has warned all homosexuals to flee from his jurisdiction, adding that the police were determined to come after them and ensure they face the full wrath of the law.

In the same vein, he advised Nigerians “to desist from taking the law into their hands”.

Jungle justice, according to him, must be discouraged and condemned entirely, lest, the state would de-generate into lawless society.
