More lifeless bodies were recovered on Tuesday following a wooden boat that capsized in River Dundaye of Wamakko Local Government Area of Sokoto State on Sunday.
The most recent body recovered on Tuesday was that of a female teenager in Wamakko axis of the river, 20 kilometres from the scene of the boat accident, bringing the number to 10 bodies so far recovered two days after.
According to report, 20 victims who survived the accident were rescued through the combined efforts of the village community and officials of Sokoto Emergency Management Agency, SEMA, and that of National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, Sokoto zonal office on the first day of the illfated journey.
The boat which capsized in the middle of the river was conveying teenagers and some elderly from the village, who were hired for manual labour in farms along the river banks.
It was reported that, the captain of the illfated boat lost control of the boat as a result of violent waves some meters away from the destination point, which made it to capsized upsidedown, dischargung its passengers in to the moving water.
