Wike-backed PDP mulls national convention

Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Minister Nyesom Wike

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has directed the reinstatement of the Mandate Secretary of the Education Secretariat, Dr Danlami Hayyo, and the Acting Executive Chairman of the FCT Internal Revenue Service, Mr Michael Ango.

The directive was announced in a statement issued on Wednesday by the minister’s Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication and Social Media, Lere Olayinka.

Hayyo was earlier suspended following a leaked memo allegedly issued by the Director of School Services of the FCT Secondary Education Board, Aishatu Alhassan, which directed the closure of government secondary schools by November 28, 2025.

The FCT Administration, however, debunked the report, insisting that no such decision was taken at any level of the administration.

Following the controversy, Wike ordered the immediate suspension of the Education Secretary and directed the FCT Head of Service, Mrs Nancy Nathan, to commence disciplinary action against Alhassan in line with civil service rules.

Similarly, the minister had, on December 8, 2025, sacked Ango as Acting Chairman of the FCT-IRS through a statement issued by his media aide.

Although no official reason was given for the removal, Wike directed the most senior official in the agency to oversee its affairs with immediate effect.

However, Olayinka disclosed that both officials had now been reinstated, warning that acts of indiscipline would not be tolerated among officials of the FCT Administration.

“The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has reinstated the Mandate Secretary for Education, Dr Danlami Hayyo, and the Acting Executive Chairman of the FCT Internal Revenue Service, Mr Michael Ango.

“The minister warned that acts of indiscipline will not be tolerated among officials of the FCTA and directed both Dr Hayyo and Mr Ango to resume duty with immediate effect,” the statement read.
