The Federal Airports Authority (FAAN) has relocated the public car park at the International Terminal of the Murtala Muhammed Airport.
A statement by FAAN’s spokesperson, Mr. Yakubu Dati, on Tuesday, said the car park had been relocated to a temporary parking facility located between the church and the mosque along the airport access road.
It explained that the car park, about 800 metres from the terminal, became operational at about 10am on Sunday.
The statement said, “The relocation became necessary to make way for the construction of a new international terminal, a five-star hospitality facility, and a modern multi-storey car park at the existing car park facility formerly occupied by car hire and bus operators.
“The new car park features 1,000 parking bays, 24/7 free shuttle buses/security surveillance, standard restrooms, dedicated bus route, pedestrian walk ways, pick-up and drop off zones, among other amenities,” it stated.
The statement added that to minimise the inconvenience of having to walk to the new car park, shuttle buses have been provided to convey passengers to and from the terminal free of charge.
“FAAN is mindful of some inconveniences that the ongoing construction work may create for passengers and other airport users and hereby appeals for patience and understanding during this period as it continues in its effort to make necessary upgrades in line with international standards,” it noted.
