The Kano State governor Rabiu Kwankwaso has said that the ongoing national conference is more of an agenda of President Goodluck Jonathan which is causing division in the country.

In an interview with newsmen at his office yesterday, Governor Kwankwaso also alleged that the conference was stage managed to aid the president’s third term ambition come 2015.

He berated the delegates at the conference for deliberating on religious, regional and ethnic issues that further divide the country.

The Kano governor also claimed that even worse is the plan by the confab to extend Jonathan ‘third term’ ambition by agreeing on the new constitution that will allow him a fresh eight-year term and throwing out the last six years he had already spent.

Kwankwaso accused Mr. President of smuggling a new constitution to the confab for the handlers to ensure his personal ambition as he did in the past when sent a bill to National Assembly proposing six-year term for the president.

He vehemently condemned the idea of the President of applying divide and rule strategy, saying it would help the leader or the country; rather, it will further divide the country, cause more crisis, and threaten national coexistence.

“This country is being divided further by confab delegates talking about Muslims on one side and Christians on the other, north on one side and south on the other, those who have oil resources on one side and those who do not have on the other, ethnicity and all sorts of similar things are the issues being discussed at confab,” he noted.

According to the governor, this d Kwankwaso expressed his regret that its funny enough what the delegates are discussing are the same issues discussed at market places, churches, mosques and even beer parlors.

He described the development as absolutely rubbish for Nigerians to have a confab in the first place, he said what is needed is how to unite Nigeria and Nigerians and all of their differences.

In his words, what is been discussed at the confab will not at the end of the day help the poor and also the rich.

Kwankwaso said Nigerians wants a fair distribution of wealth, equality in education, industries, electricity and security of lives and properties, this in his opinion can only move the country forward.

He also reiterated that like it or not there is co-relation between poverty and insecurity in the north and the country at large, lamenting that this is the bitter truth the federal government is debunking, but every right thinking Nigerian agreed.

Governor Kwankwaso said the northern region is only appealing to the federal government to show interest their present plight, than what the confab is doing which is adding more money to the region that already has enough.

“Having more poor people in the north means more insecurity and more insecurity doesn’t help anybody, region or political party”, Kwankwaso hinted.

On confab, Kwankwaso said he saw nothing wrong with the present constitution, insisting that nothing is wrong with revenue sharing formula, but with   the operators who need to be changed.

so chided the delegates at confab to once more ensured that the poor Nigerian not made to be poorer by adding more money to other states who have enough only that they lack good operators.

Kwankwaso repeated his call of Onshore-Onshore which he viewed as legitimate call and is the concern of every northerner and expected the delegates from the north to do more in ensuring it sees the light of the day.

He however decried the level of corruption in the federal government which out of shame went on attacking APC governors of being corrupt leaders all in its usual way of trying to destabilise the polity of the country, citing the case of Adamawa, Edo and Rivera states. Leadership
