The Jigawa State government has announced its approval for the release of of N4.1 billion to complete work at the on-going Dutse International Airport.
The state Commissioner of Information, Youth, Sports and Culture, Alhaji Babandi Ibrahim, disclosed this to journalists in Dutse after the second round of the state Executive Council Meeting held at the Government House.
According to him, the project which is being handled by three construction firms, Aftin Nigeria ltd, CGC Nigeria Ltd and Dantata & Sawoe Ltd expected to be commissioned by President Goodluck Jonathan in three weeks time.
Alhaji Ibrahim explained that the sum of N 2.6 billion was allocated to Aftin Nigeria Limited which would provide fire tenders, airfield lightening and scanning machines while Dantata and Sawoe was allocated the sum of N1.2 billion for additional work around the runway. Adding that CGC Nigeria Ltd got N500 million for the construction of drainages within the airport premises.
He stated that the contract is expected to be completed in a few weeks time to facilitate the commencement of airlift of hajj pilgrims the state.
