Eid-el-Fitr: Jonathan, Mark, Tambuwal, others seek peaceful co-existence

President Goodluck Jonathan, President of the Senate, Senator David Mark, Speaker of the House of Representatives Aminu Waziri Tambuwal and several governors and others have advised Nigerian on peaceful coexistence in the spirit of the Eid-el Fitri celebration.

They urged Nigerians to remain strong and resolute despite the atrocities being perpetrated by Boko Haram sect in their bid to disrupt the holy month of Ramadan by Muslims across the country.

The Sallah message made available by the Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Rueben Abati reads in part: “I assure all Nigerians, once again, that we are totally committed to winning that war, putting the scourge of terrorism and insecurity rapidly behind us and giving the fullest possible attention to the urgent task of improving the living conditions of our people in all parts of the country.

“We cannot and will not be deterred from our goal of positively transforming our nation into a strong, united, progressive, stable, secure and prosperous nation in which all citizens will live in peace in spite of our immense diversities”.

 Mark Urges Collective Action Against Terrorism

Senator Mark in a goodwill message in Abuja congratulated Muslim for the successful completion of the fasting programme which he said the nation desires most at this trying times.

In a press statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary Paul Mumeh, he lamented the unabating security challenges the country is facing at the moment and called for collective action of all citizens against the terrorists with a view to ending the menace.

  Tambuwal Urges Spiritual Renewal

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal has urged Muslims in the country to use the period of the Eid-el-Fitr to reflect on their spiritual lives as individuals and how they can contribute more meaningfully towards the unity, stability and progress of Nigeria.

He equally urged Nigerians to be conscious of their health by strictly adhering to instructions issued by health professional, saying the outbreak of Ebola virus in neighbouring countries is a source for concern in the country.

In a Sallah message issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Public Affairs, Malam Imam Imam, Tambuwal said all Nigerians should be more dedicated to the Nigerian project, adding that with unity of purpose, building a virile and strong nation is achievable.

 Pray For Nigeria’s Unity – Atiku

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has appealed to Muslims in Nigeria to pray for the end of the spectre of insecurity currently haunting the country.

In an Eid-el-Fitri message marking the end of the 30 day long Ramadan fasting period, the former vice president regretted that terrorists have shed so much blood in the name of religion and, therefore, urged all Muslims to pray to God to defeat and destroy those evil doers masquerading as religious zealots

 Fayemi Urges Reflection On Lessons Of Ramadan

Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, has congratulated the Muslim faithful in the country and all over the world for witnessing another Eid-el-Fitri.

Governor Fayemi said the 30-day spiritual exercise has drawn the faithful closer to Allah urging them to keep on practising the lessons learnt from the holy month in their relationship with their maker and fellow human beings.

 Yero Urges Brotherly Coexistence

In his Sallah message, Governor Mukhtar Ramalan Yero of Kaduna State felicitates with all Muslim faithful as they celebrate Eid-el-Fitr marking the end of Ramadan.

In a statement signed by his Director General on Media and Publicity, Mallam Ahmed Maiyaki, Gov Yero said, ‘I wish to also call on Muslims to uphold the spirit of brotherhood of mankind as enjoined by Allah in the glorious Qur’an through promoting peace, unity and progress in the entire globe. Islam is indeed, a religion of peace and the true essence of faith is to unite the entire mankind in love and harmony’

 JNI Greets Muslims At Sallah

The Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI) salutes the the Muslims community in Nigeria over the success of the Ramadan.

JNI in a statement by its secretary, Dr. Khalid Abubakar Aliyu however, reminded Nigerian Muslims on the need to deeply reflect on the good virtues of the month of Ramadan and keep to its teachings all through.

“More importantly, Muslims are also reminded of Zakatul-Fitr (Ordained Alms giving at the end of Ramadan fast, out of the common food eaten within Muslim Communities) which preferably should be given out to the needy two days before the Eid-el-Fitr day or before the commencement of the Eid prayer. This, if done, will assist the down trodden, to celebrate the Sallah with the Muslim Ummah. Leadership
