The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai has announced the establishment of the Nigerian Army 8th Division to be located in the northern part of Borno.
The army chief made this known Wednesday in a lecture at the National Defence College titled `Nigerian Army: Challenges and Future Perspectives.”
He added that the new division is to bolster military operations against insurgents particularly in lake Chad Basin Basin area.
The Nigerian Army in August 2013 established the 7th Division in Maiduguri to improve counter insurgency operations in the northeast.
