The Archbishop of Resurrection Praise Ministry, Sampson Mustapha Benjamin, has described the Lagos state Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Mr. Jimi Agbaje, as the right man to rule the state.
The state’s All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Akinwunmi Ambode, meanwhile, has assured corporate organisations operating in Lagos of security and good working relationship, if he is elected in next month’s election.
At a rally organised by a coalition of NGOs, trade unions and some socio-cultural organisations in Lagos yesterday, Benjamin said the state needs an experienced hand like Agbaje to manage a complex society like Lagos.
The rally, which witnessed a huge turnout, was held at the stadium within the International Trade Fair Complex.
The cleric said: “Agbaje is a man who identifies with all tribes, the poor and less privileged. Agbaje is a man who does not discriminate against non-indigenes. My dealings with him revealed his openness and a large heart that reaches out to all. With Agbaje as the governor in Lagos, we have got it right because his administration will be positively all-encompassing and will benefit all residents of the state from elites to the downtrodden.”
Agbaje who arrived at the campaign ground on an Okada (commercial motorcycle) promised commercial operators that their services would not be terminated. He said there are so many areas in the state that are not accessible as result of the present administration’s failure in the area of transportation, noting that only motorcycles could access such places. He said he would sit down with the operators to fashion out how they would operate without problems.
Agbaje promised to live up to the expectations of the people if elected. “Everything my administration will do will be beneficial to all. Irrespective of your tribe, religion or who you know, my administration will empower all,” he said.
Speaking during a dinner with the Corporate World in Lagos on Friday night, Ambode assured leaders of industries, banks and private school operators, among others, that his government would not deviate from the ongoing Security Trust Fund programme of the incumbent governor, Babatunde Fashola. “We would rather improve on it and ensure 24-hour security for all in the state,” he said.
Meanwhile, speaking during the APC’s campaign in Badagry, yesterday, Fashola said the time has come when the people of Badagry should give total support to the ruling APC in Lagos and vote out the PDP at the centre. The Guardian
