The Ogun State Governor, Ibikunle Amosun, has ordered the management of the state-owned Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago Iwoye, to pay the one-month salary owed lecturers of the institution.
The Secretary to the State Government, Mr Taiwo Adeoluwa, said on Thursday in a statement that the governor ordered the immediate payment of the salary.
Adeoluwa said the administration inherited a huge debt from the immediate past administration, adding that it had, however, prioritised payment of salary arrears.
He recalled that since its assumption of power in 2011, the government had committed about N1 billion to pay the accrued allowances inherited from the immediate past administration.
Adeoluwa gave an assurance that all other arrears of other unions would be paid without delay.
He said inspite of the ongoing infrastructural development across the state, the government had ensured prompt payment of monthly salaries of workers.
Adeoluwa said notwithstanding the dwindling funds from the Federation Account and Internally Generated Revenue, government would continue to ensure that workers’ salaries were paid promptly.
