It may not be business as usual for any company found trying to bribe any staff of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation, as Federal Government will henceforth prosecute and blacklist such company.
The Head of Service of the Federation Mr Danladi Kifasi, made this pronouncement when he had audience with the Board of the National Insurance Commission (NAICOM) led by its Chairman Hon. Chibudom Nwuche, during a courtesy call on his office.
Kifasi has also assured the commission that his office would cooperate with it to produce guidelines for prompt payment of benefits by insurance companies to deserving civil servants, adding that his office would partner with it to train staff to adequately help regulate activities of insurance companies for better service delivery.
Earlier in his remarks, Nwuche appealed to the Head of service for the strengthening of the existing partnership between the insurance companies and the office of the Head of Service in the implementation of the pension reform act as it relates to the compulsory group life insurance scheme for employees of the Federal government.
He noted that the scheme though successful so far, has challenges which range from non-availability of adequate data for proper administration, timely notification of claims, submission of supporting documents and appropriate pricing of risks.
He expressed hopes that proper collaboration between the office of the Head of Service and the commission will go a long way in solving the issues.
Also speaking at the occasion, the Commissioner and Chief Executive Officer of the National Insurance Commission, Fola Daniel, highlighted responsibilities of NAICOM as advisers to government on insurance and protection of its assets and commended the transparent process in the appointment of insurance institutions participating in the group life insurance scheme GLIS.
He suggested the formation of an interministerial committee on the Group Life insurance scheme.
The occasion was witnessed by the Permanent Secretary Common Services office Dr. Tope Ajakaye and the Permanent Secretary Career management office Alhaji Mohammed Abbass. Among the board members who accompanied Hon. Nwuche were Thompson Barryneka, Okpara Nicholas, Aka Leo, Dr. Talmis Usman and K. Salami.
The NAICOM is the body charged with the responsibility of regulating and supervising the insurance industry in Nigeria.
