The All Progressives Congress (APC) youth leader and a travel consultant resident at Alimosho area of Lagos State, Mr. Jimoh Azeez Enitan, has faulted former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, over his criticism of President Bola Tinubu’s economic reforms, insisting that Nigeria requires policy continuity rather than a complete economic reset.
Enitan said the reforms initiated by the Tinubu administration were designed to place the country’s economy on a sustainable growth path and should be consolidated instead of abandoned ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The former Anambra State Governor, Mr. Peter Obi in his recent interview on Channels Television, criticized the President Tinubu administration’s economic direction.
Obi had argued that Nigeria was moving in the wrong direction under President Tinubu and the APC, maintaining that the country needed a new leadership approach to address its economic and governance challenges.
Obi had described the current administration’s agenda as one that had produced “failure and renewed hopelessness,” urging Nigerians to embrace a different policy direction.
Responding to the remarks, Enitan said the Tinubu administration had already laid a solid foundation for economic recovery through a series of difficult but necessary reforms.
The APC youth leader further stated that measures, such as the removal of fuel subsidy, exchange rate reforms and fiscal restructuring were introduced to reposition the economy for long-term sustainability.
He argued that while the policies had initially imposed hardship on citizens, they were beginning to produce positive outcomes and should be strengthened rather than reversed.
The APC chieftain maintained that the country’s immediate priority should be consolidating the gains already recorded instead of embarking on another round of economic restructuring.
Enitan described Obi’s call for a fresh policy direction as counterproductive, particularly at a time when the country was navigating what he called difficult but necessary economic adjustments.
He also criticised the former presidential candidate for what he described as a tendency to highlight national challenges without presenting practical alternatives that aligned with prevailing economic realities.
The APC Chieftain stated that, Nigeria needs leaders who are committed to policy consistency and capable of sustaining ongoing reforms aimed at improving revenue generation, infrastructure development and economic stability.
In his final remark, Enitan seized the opportunity to thank President Tinubu for his selfless leadership qualities while at the same time,applauding his economic policies which has repositioned Nigeria to the path of economic prosperity and development.
In the same vein, he also saluted his close brother, Mr. Tunji Disu, the Inspector General of Police (IGP), congratulating him on his position as the police boss.
Enitan urged the new IGP to bring his expertise to bear towards repositioning and bringing professionalism into the Nigeria police.
Enitan also extended encomiums to Mr. Femi Gbajabiamila, Chief of Staff to the President, wishing him strength and wisdom in directing the Pres. Tinubu in the right direction like he has always done.
He also commended the good people of Nigeria, calling them the true heroes of democracy and urging them to continue supporting President Tinubu and the APC party.
