Boko Haram has no basis in Islam –Sultan

The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar, has said that the Boko Haram sect has no basis in Islam, adding that its doctrine has no single resemblance of true Muslims.

Abubakar, who is the President-General, Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, made the clarification at the formal opening of the annual Islamic Vacation Course, organised by the Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria, Southern Zone, which was held at Kilometer 53, Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

“We have said it times without number that any act that breeds violence like the one being exhibited by Boko-Haram has no basis in Islam.

“As you are aware, our religion, Islam stands for peace as its name denotes. So let us remain peaceful always, so that we may live a peaceful life here and be accommodated in the home of peace in the life to come,” he said.

In a keynote address, the national president of MSSN, Sirajudeen Abd-Azeez, urged the Federal Government to find a lasting solution to the problem of insurgency which continues to threaten the unity of the country.

“This great and giant nation is on the verge of collapse. It is no more a selling news that terrorism is on the rampage taking over our lands on a daily basis. We want to reiterate that Mr. President should address the nation on why the country is under the terrorists’ siege.

“Why have the insurgents continued to beat the nation’s military arsenals despite the billions of dollars voted for security? Why have the terrorists become stronger even after a year when some states in the North- East have come under partial emergency rule?” he said.

This is in the nature of Muslims all over the world in Libyia, Syria , Egypt, Iraq, Yemen, Somalia, kenya and Nigeria.

Boko Haram cannot be isolated from the history of Islam- a trail of blood or the current events brought about by the emergence of ISIS in the Middle East. Islam could only have spread through violence for lack of appeal to humanity. Unfortunately for us Africans, it was the African Moores that the Arabs used in the occupation of Spain for about 8 centuries, taking along with them all of the wisdom of Black Egypt to pull Europe out of the dark age, at the same time depriving Africa of needed development. To them, charity starts from the outside and ends there. The quest of Boko-Haram to turn Nigeria into an Islamic state is consistent with the Coran. Islamic doctrine calls for total eradication of the unbeliever. In Sura 8:13-15,, it states ” I will instill terror into the hearts of the unbelievers, smite ye above their necks and smite all their fingertips” among several other suras of similar incitement.

Olufemi, reading comments such as yours, one wonders what you aim to achieve.
You do not see Boko Haram for what it really is. And by that you are playing right into the hands of its sponsors.
Your history needs correction. Much of the development you see today started with the Arabs and Islam. why do you think the numbers are called “Arab numerals”. And have you read about the Catholic Crusades in which Millions of people were wiped off the face of the planet in the name of Christ?
My friend People in glass houses do not throw stones!
Deuteronomy 20:12-17….12 If they refuse to make peace and they engage you in battle, lay siege to that city. 13 When the LORD your God delivers it into your hand, put to the sword all the men in it. 14 As for the women, the children, the livestock and everything else in the city, you may take these as plunder for yourselves. And you may use the plunder the LORD your God gives you from your enemies. 15This is how you are to treat all the cities that are at a distance from you and do not belong to the nations nearby. 16 However, in the cities of the nations the LORD your God is giving you as an inheritance, do not leave alive anything that breathes. 17 Completely destroy them–the Hittites, Amorites, Canaanites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites–as the LORD your God has commanded you.

Don’t waste your energy. Bigotry is not about lack of information or even insufficient information. It is about holding grudge contrary to overwhelming evidence against ones perception of issues. If you quote the entire Bible scripture to him it will not change him. But thanks for the effort.

Well, the world accepted it when Christians claimed that Hitler is not a true Christian despite both his parents being devout Christians. Hitler himself was baptised in a Roman Catholic church, attended monastery, he was a communicant and an altar boy in the Catholic Church and confirmed as a “soldier of christ” as a young man (check google). He even praised “the lord” in his statements during his victories and political statements against the Jews. Yet the whole world understood that Hitler was using this for his political gain.
So to answer your question Mr Uzoh, the fact that you have Muslim parents or claim to practice Islam does not mean that you actually do, just as you cannot blame all Christians for the 6 million Jews Hitler murdered just because he claimed to be a Christian!
Let us stop all this inciting comments and pray for this Country that we all claim to love.
