The Director General of the National Boundary Commission, Dr. M. B. Ahmad, has commended Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State for his remarkable initiatives in promoting peace and good governance in the state, noting that his administration’s giant strides in
infrastructural development are “quite commendable”.
The Director General who was represented by the director in charge of Internal Boundaries and Research Analysis, Dr. Okechukwu Oji spoke
when he led a delegation from the commission to the Government House, Enugu on a courtesy visit to the governor.
The team was in Enugu to carry out an ethnographic survey of some dispute prone areas between Enugu and Anambra states’ boundaries.
Dr. Ahmad explained that the aim of the study was to ensure the restoration of peace and harmony in the affected areas, adding that the commission was embarking on an elaborate ethnographic research exercise to realize its set objectives.
“I also want to congratulate the government and people of Enugu State under your (Ugwuanyi) able leadership for the infrastructural development in the state and remarkable good governance you have brought to bear on the people. The giant strides in the provision of democracy dividends are quite commendable. We urge you not to rest in your oars in this effort at nation building”, the Director-General stated.
In his response, Governor Ugwuanyi expressed delight at the commission’s effort towards fostering lasting peace and harmonious co-existence among indigenes of Enugu and Anambra states, particularly those residing in the boundary regions.
The governor while assuring of his administration’s support, charged members of the delegation to bring to bear their wealth of experience, expertise and competence in the discharge of their assignment to ensure the amicable and satisfactory resolution of any outstanding boundary related issues between the two sister states.
