Buhari, Governors, South-East politicians meet behind closed doors

President Muhammadu Buhari held a private meeting with some notable politicians from the South-eastern part of the country on Tuesday.
The delegation, which was led by Senator Ken Nnamani, a former Senate president, had representatives from most of the states in the region.
Among those in attendance were Ernest Ndukwe, former executive vice-chairman of Nigeria Communications Commission, NCC, George Moghalu, national auditor of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Ifeanyi Ararume, a former senator, and Osita Izunaso, also a former senator.
Others were Emma Eneukwu, APC national vice-chairman (South-East), Austin Edeze, a member of the APC board of trustees, Uzoma Obiyo, a top businessman, and Chris Akomas, former deputy governor of Abia State.
None of them entertained questions from State House correspondents at the end of the meeting, which did not last an hour.
The meeting came less than 24 hours after members of the Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra, MASSOB, and the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, clashed with security personnel.
The clashes, which occurred in different states of the region, led to the death of many Biafra agitators and the arrest of others.
The unfortunate events happened during rallies to mark the 50th anniversary of the defunct Biafra Republic.
Buhari also met with about six governors, who all declined to speak to reporters at the end of the meeting.
