Nigerian sporting fans are in for a special treat come next year when the world biggest sporting fiesta, the Olympics, is staged in Brazil.
This is coming courtesy of a deal sealed yesterday in Lagos between the Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC) and the nation’s leading transport company, Chisco.
Both parties at a press briefing revealed that at least 10 Nigerian fans would make an all expenses paid trip to Rio to watch the Olympics next year, courtesy of a raffle draw being put together by Chisco.
NOC scribe Tunde Popoola while commending Chisco for partnering NOC ahead of the Games pointed out that with the support Nigeria would return from Rio with medals unlike what happened at the London 2012 games where the country failed to win a single medal.
Chisco’s Special Assistant to the Chairman, Moses Chukwuka said the company decided to go into the Rio 2016 raffle draw campaign as a way of giving back to Nigerians for their loyalty over the years.
“It is Nigerians that have made us the nation’s number one transport outfit and as a way of saying thank you, we are offering them the opportunity to be in Rio to be part of the Olympics all expenses paid,” Chukwuka said.
NOC’s marketing consultant Isaac O. Isaac who brokered the deal disclosed that beginning from this week all Chisco passengers stand a chance of landing in Brazil.
“There will be a periodic raffle draw for holders of Chisco transport company tickets. Fans that are not travelling, are equally free to buy a 200 naira raffle ticket from any Chisco terminal to qualify for the draw. The draws will hold in Owerri, Abuja and Lagos and at least 10 fans will emerge winners between now and June next year,” Isaac explained. -Vanguard.
