Delta State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Isaiah Bozimo, has said the state Ministry of Justice was poised to provide free legal services to indigent citizens and other residents in the state in 2023.
Bozimo, who disclosed this in Asaba weekend, stated that in the 2023 budget the Ministry created vote for the Office of the Public Defender to provide the free legal aid.
He stated that under the administration of criminal justice laws the Ministry was also envisaging that the workload would increase, hence the need to be proactive to ensure availability funds to meet governance demands of the state next year.
The Attorney General said the Ministry would ensure the implementation of the law. Isaiah Bozimo, while assuring Deltans of more robust service delivery, gav assurance that the 2023 budget would be implemented for the well-being of all.
He commended the State House of Assembly and House committee on Rules, Business, Legal and Judicial Matters in particular, for their supports, and promised that the Ministry would continue to discharge its functions to the benefits of the people of the state.
