Don Jazzy cruises Porsche Carrera GTS RT

Music Producer, Michael Collins Ajereh, popularly known as Don Jazzy, is a Nigerian multi-award-winning record producer, songwriter, musician and the CEO of Marvin record label. The 31-year-old graduate of Ambrose Alli University, Edo State, is endeared to many of his fans through his simple lifestyle and the fatherly role he plays for the artistes under his label.

In 2013, the music star bought a Porsche Carrera GTS RT, which goes for about $120,000 (N19m).

Acceleration and Power

The powerful Carrera features a 3.8-litre six-cylinder engine that generates 400 horsepower at 7,400 rpm and 325 pound-feet of torque at 5,600 rpm. With the seven-speed manual, the Carrera will accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 4.3 seconds with a top speed of 188 mph. Add its optional PDK transmission and Sport Chrono package and the Carrera will maximise performance and dash from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.9 seconds. In Edmunds brake testing, the new 991 Carrera S came to a stop from 60 mph in an astounding 98 feet.

The Porsche Carrera gains more power to go along with its new luxurious look. Auto writers have also commended its powerful and athletic handling abilities.

Test drivers say the four-seat Carrera has a comfortable and supportive front and rear-seat legroom which offers enough adjustability to accommodate nearly any driver. It is essentially a hatchback coupe with a large sunroof and rear hatch made from glass.

Interior Features

The bulk of the Carrera’s electronics and interior controls are operated through the Porsche Communication Management system. The system includes a 7-inch touch-screen display with navigation, Bluetooth and a USB/iPod port in the glove box, which are straightforward and relatively simple to operate. All these are some of the features that make the sports car a viable daily choice.

The all-new Porsche Carrera also features 19-inch centre-lock alloy wheels, adaptive bi-xenon headlights, LED running lights, automatic wipers, heated side mirrors, dual-zone automatic climate control, partial leather upholstery, a touch-screen electronics interface and a navigation system. The Bose Audio package has a 12-speaker surround-sound audio system of 235-watts and a six-disc changer, satellite radio and an auxiliary audio jack.

Fuel Economy

This car achieves respectable gas mileage for a 4-seat luxury convertible, at an average of 18 mpg within the city and 26 mpg on the highway. This makes it 2.3 per cent more fuel efficient than its competitors. In city driving, owners can expect to cover about 304 miles on the 16.9 gallon tank.

The Porsche Carrera comes with anti-lock ventilated disc brakes, front and a full complement of air bags; side and knee air bags for the driver and front passenger. It also has 4-Wheel ABS anti-lock and Disc Brakes, Brake Assist, electronic stability control, daytime running lights, child safety locks, traction control and auto-levelling headlights.

The upside is that the gearshift is conveniently placed closer to the steering wheel; the downside is that the cabin feels less open and spacious than before. It provides supportive front bucket seats that do a great job of holding both driver and passenger in place while cornering.

The good: The GT models certainly require more skilled hands to properly get the most out of them due, in particular, to the fact that it is an absolute rocket, producing truly amazing acceleration. It’s the first production car to feature a seven-speed manual for improved fuel economy.

The bad: The rear seats, as seat-like as they appear to be, are best left to very small children, as even moderate-height adults up front will reduce rear leg room to near zero. Punch
