Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State has assured workers in the
state that despite the present economic challenges in the country that
he would continue to pay their salaries to ensure service delivery
among the work force.
Governor Ugwuanyi in a brief remark on the occasion of a prayer
session to usher in New Year, organized by labour in the state for
civil servants at the state new secretariat complex observed that
constant payment of civil servants’ salaries would also continue to
activate the economy of the state.
“We will continue to pay salaries, it is only when we do that, we can
activate the economy of the state,” he said.
The governor thanked the state organized labour and workers of Enugu
State for initiating and sustaining prayer session to usher in New
Year in the state, adding that “without God we can do nothing.”
He also applauded the state workers for their solidarity to his
administration since inception.
He urged the civil servants to be steadfast in their faith in God, as
his administration would not relent in prayers to God to direct the
state.
In exaltation with theme “with God everything is possible” the
Methodist Bishop of Agbani Circuit, Rt. Rev. Udoh Emeremgini said that
God do wonderful things in the life of people who truly worship and
trust Him, adding that all good works have their rewards.
Rev. Udoh advised civil servants in the state to always stand on truth
and be mindful of their deeds.
He advised the authorities to always carry their subordinates along in
the administration of the service. According to him retired workers
should be paid their pension promptly because workers deserve their
wages.
The prayer was attended by members of the state executive council,
permanent secretaries and a large number of civil servants in the
state.
