Emirates fosters gender-friendly work environment

The World’s leading airline, Emirate Airlines, has reiterated its commitment to a Gender-Friendly work environment for its employees. This is in view of the fact that women play integral roles within the organization. As a way of celebrating the International Women’s Day, the Emirates Group in Dubai is highlighting the integral role played by its female employees through a special video which documents the breadth and diversity of the operational and technical roles performed by women in the Group.

Nigerian Employees under the Emirates Group are also not left out in this, as the Group has also highlighted the roles played by Nigerian Female Employees, as a way of appreciating them. From Cabin Crew, Ticket sales agents, Cargo, and to other positions occupied by females, Nigerian female employees under Emirates Airline Nigeria, have recorded impacts and are however celebrated for their contributions to the success of Emirate Airline in Nigeria.

According to the Emirates Spokesperson in Nigeria, “We at Emirates regionally and globally encourage women employment. Over 35% of our workforce in Nigeria currently comprises of women, who occupy positions in airport operations, cargo, commercial as well as management. Career growth for women is actively endorsed by Emirates Airline. As we join the whole world to celebrate this year’s International Women’s Day, themed ‘Press for Progress’, we encourage women to keep pressing forward and making progress. We recognize that women are making progress in ways that specifically should increase the momentum of progress in the coming year and for years to come, and that’s the reason we at Emirates Nigeria are celebrating women’s achievements and pushing forward gender equality.”

The Executive Vice President of Human Resources at Emirates, Abdulaziz Al Ali pointed out, “Every flight that we operate needs an entire ecosystem of staff from a number of business units to come together and work seamlessly. Emirates is proud that we have women represented in all these key functions. Women have been part of the Emirates success story from the start and on International Women’s Day we celebrate their extensive contribution to Emirates and to the broader aviation industry.”

The Emirates Group employs women from over 150 nationalities. This includes many Nigerian women who work in diverse functions across the business.  Overall, female employees constitute over 40% of the workforce at Emirates with the majority of women working as cabin crew. Over 20% of all supervisorial and managerial roles within Emirates are occupied by women.
