The Enugu State Executive Council has approved in principle the establishment of an agency under the State Ministry of Environment and Mineral Resources to be known as Enugu State Signage and Advertisement Regulatory Agency (ENSARA) for the enforcement, sanitization, authentication and production of outdoor practices in the state.
Consequently, the council further directed the office of the Attorney General of the State to sponsor an executive bill to the State House of Assembly for the establishment of the said agency.
In a press briefing by the State Commissioner for Information, Dr. Godwin Udeuhele at the end of the state executive council meeting presided over by Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State, at the
Government House, Enugu, the council also approved that the ministry be allowed in the interim to engage the services of consultants or agents to generate revenue in the state under this arrangement.
The council equally approved the setting up of a 6-man inter-ministerial committee to be headed by the State Hon. Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Barr. Chika Smart Ogbe to take a critical review and appraisal of the present status of the state abandoned proposed International Conference Centre (ICC) to enable the state government have an informed position on the project, he said.
He added that the approval was sequel to a memorandum presented by the Special Adviser to the governor on Tourism Development, Hon Tony Manfred Nzekwe who noted that the resuscitation of the centre would enhance socio-economic benefits of the state.
The state information commissioner who was accompanied in the press briefing by his Ministry of Environment counterpart, Amb. Fedel Ayogu as well as the Special Adviser to the governor on Tourism Development, Hon Tony Manfred Nzekwe added that the council also approved the revival of the Satellite Estate at Akpoga Nike, Enugu East local government area in the state. The council, according to him has
set-up a committee to implement the sale of the remaining 183 unsubscribed plots to civil servants and the general public at a renewed rate.
The commissioner noted that because of the socio-economic benefit inherent in the state cultural and fiesta programmes that the council approved the State 2015 Cultural Fiesta activities with a mandate to
source for funds from the private sectors.
