The Anambra State Governor, Governor Willie Obiano, has announced that the Boko Haram detainees at Ekwulobia Prison in Aguata Local Government Area of the state would soon be relocated out of Anambra.
This, he said, was the outcome of the security meeting held with a 7-man delegation from the National Security Adviser (NSA).
Obiano made the declaration shortly after a closed door meeting with his visitors and other stakeholders on Wednesday at the Governor’s Lodge in Awka, the Anambra State capital, Southeast Nigeria.
He revealed that the Boko Haram detainees at Ekwulobia Prison in Aguata Local Government Area of the state would soon be relocated out of Anambra.
Governor Obiano observed that the outcry by various organisations and institutions in the state in the last few days portrayed how scared the people were, but with the reassurances from the delegation of imminent relocation of the prisoners, all will be well in the state.
Amongst the stakeholders in attendance at the security meeting were traditional rulers, religious leaders, town union executives and market leaders.
In the meantime, the Nigerian Army has granted freedom to 182 suspected Boko Haram members detained in military facilities in Maiduguri, the Borno State’s capital, in accordance with the military authority’s pledge to carry out its operations within the law.
