FG trains 200 IDPs on agriculture in Yobe

The Federal Government has completed a training programme for 200 Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) on the cultivation of vegetable crops in Damaturu, Yobe State.

The training was handled by the Federal Department of Agricultural Extension (FDAE) of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (FMARD) under its 2017 approved appropriation.

The FDAE said the IDPs were trained on home gardening for the production of some selected vegetable crops such as tomatoes, cucumber, green pepper, water lemon, carrot, okro and green vegetables.

It identified the objectives of the training as developing the knowledge and skills of the IDPs to eradicate poverty and improve their livelihood.

The FDAE said it also trained some youths in Oyo state on “Spraying and Good Agricultural Practices – GAP”empowerment programme, which was launched last year across the country.
