Anxiety is heightening in the ancient city of Kano as the governorship election petition tribunal judgement begins amidst heavy security.
The three-man panel led by Justice Oluyemi Akintan-Osadebay commenced proceedings virtually a few minutes before 10:00 a.m. transmitting at Miller Road venue of the tribunal.
Despite the virtual mode proceedings, lawyers and members of various parties in the litigation including journalists were subjected to thorough search while the use of mobile telephones was highly restricted.
The top government functionaries and senior members of the ruling NNPP led by Secretary to the State Government Dr. Abdullahi Baffa Bichi, Chief of Staff to the Governor, Shehu Wada Sagir, Commissioner for Information, Halilu Baba Dantiye among others are fully representing the government at the court.
However, no members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who are the petitioner were noticed at the court as at the time of filing the report.
Meanwhile, marketplaces, banks, and schools have been shut down in the metropolis in fear of the unknown just as major roads devoid of normal vehicular traffic.
