The National Chairman of the Nigeria Football Supporters’ Club (NFSC), Rev. Samuel Ikpea, was last weekend in Lagos, honoured by the Community Newspapers Publishers Association of Nigeria (CONPAN) as the ‘Most Outstanding National Chairman of the Year’.
The award, according to the organizers, was aimed at recognizing corporate organizations and distinguished individuals who had continued to contribute to national development.
The award was also to encourage the evolution of a better and virtuous society.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Chairman of CONPAN, FCT chapter, Prince Sunday Oyedele, stated that the honour was given after due and painstaking diligence report on the awardee.
“You are truly deserving of this award in view of your selfless and nationalistic tendencies towards the development and growth of the country, and using sports as a veritable platform,” he remarked.
An obviously elated Ikpea thanked the organizers for the honour.
He added that the award would spur him into doing better and bigger things for Nigerian sports and the country in general.
” I am indeed, happy and grateful to the organizers for this recognition and award,” Ikpea said.
” It certainly proves that our modest efforts and contributions to the country’s development have not gone unnoticed. And it would go on to spur me into giving more in the service of our country. Like the saying, the reward for hardwork, is more work,” he added in an emotion-laden tone.
