About 18 months after cancelling the recruitment of 2000 Immigration officials, the Federal Government has reviewed its decision, albeit with conditions.
The decision to cancel the recruitment at a time some of the successful candidates were already undergoing training, was heavily criticised.
However, a statement by the Nigerian Immigration Service’s spokesman, Mr. E.S King, a Deputy Comptroller of Immigration (DCI) Monday, said the Federal Government has approved a review of the case.
“The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) wishes to inform the 2000 applicants for employment into the Service who were irregularly issued letters of employment in February, 2015 that the Federal Government has approved the review of the case.”
The statement said the decision followed “an emergency meeting of the Civil Defence, Fire, Immigration, and Prisons Services Board (CDFIPB) on the 11th of August 2016.”
In the fresh guidelines, the applicants are expected to undergo security clearance, drug test, among others.
