A group of federal lawmakers under the aegis of the Kano APC caucus in the National Assembly, has passed a vote of confidence on Governor Abdullahi Ganduje ,for what they describe as his “exemplary leadership and performance in office.”
The caucus gave its endorsement of the leadership of Governor Ganduje, while addressing journalists at the National Assembly complex in Abuja.
Kano State has a total of 24 House of Representatives members and three senators.
Fourteen of the House members, and two Senators, signed the document to indicate their support for the embattled Governor.
The remaining eleven are in the opposition caucus.
The endorsement comes after an online medium released a series of videos allegedly showing the governor receiving thousands of dollars in bribes. A court then stopped the Kano Assembly’s inquiry into the claims.
Presenting the position of the caucus at the news conference, leader of the group, Senator Kabiru Gaya, reaffirmed their pledge to also deliver five million votes for President Muhammadu Buhari in the 2019 presidential elections.
“We make bold to say that the leadership of Ganduje has brought unprecedented socio-economic development to Kano State such as never before.
“His footprints are boldly and clearly evident in roads, education, health, rural development and human capital development. Little wonder the unprecedented crowd that attended the recent Kano Mega Rally where thousands of politicians who decamped from the PDP were welcome into the APC by the performing governor.”
Also speaking on the reason for their decision, Mr. Alhassan Doguwa argued that the Kano state governor had shocked many critics with his “outstanding achievements in the various sectors ranging from infrastructure to human capital development.”
Mr. Doguwa who is the Chief Whip of the House of Representatives, believes that the magnitude of the crowd at a recent Kano rally was a fitting testimony to the performance of the Governor.
